Four Reasons to open Oklahoma
Democracy by Reforming Ballot Access
1.) Oklahoma has the most restrictive ballot access laws to form
third parties (over 73,000 signatures for 2006, 29 states required 5,000
or less)
2.) Voters
need more choices - Half of Oklahoma House seats are uncontested
tomorrow (53 of
101 seats, and nationally there is No major party contest in 37.6%
of all legislative districts)
3.) Voters can handle more choices
- Oklahoma Democrats chose from nine presidential nominees
in 2004 and Oklahoma Republicans had eight nominees in the
primary for Senate District 41.
4.) Oklahoma was the only state where voters were limited
to just two choices for president in 2004 – Half of the states had
at least 6 names on the ballot and Colorado had 12 names. See OkVoterChoice.org/issues.html
